There is still a lot we don't know about viruses, even well-characterised ones. The Heddle lab recently published a paper identifying and characterising a new bacteriophage protein called Fis. In the paper, A bacteriophage mimic of the bacterial nucleoid-associated protein Fis, they showed that Fis binds DNA and seems to help the virus successfully replicate in bacteria. The research work was carried out with numerous collaborators including the Sharples lab at Durham University.
The work was published in The Biochemical Journal. Access the paper here: https://doi.org/10.1042/BCJ20200146
