9.8 mln PLN (EPIGENOME) and 11.2 mln PLN (MICROBIOME) from The National Center for Research and Development for two grants coordinated by the scientists from the Human Genome Variation Research Group and Bioinformatics Research Group at MCB!
Epigenome and Microbiome Projects
Prof. Wojciech Branicki, Dr Ewelina Pośpiech, and Dr hab. inż. Paweł Łabaj have recently received funding from The National Center for Research and Development for two large-scale epi-/meta-genomics projects. Both projects will be undertaken in collaboration with other scientific units with the leadership of the Central Forensic Laboratory of Police in Warsaw.
Prof. Wojciech Branicki’s and Dr hab. inż. Paweł Łabaj’s project is concentrated on the microbiome and its goal is to develop a tool enabling the use of environmental microbiome profiling for tracing unknown samples or individuals.
The epigenome project coordinated by Dr. Ewelina Pośpiech aims to investigate the basis of epigenetic aging and particularly the significance of inherited individual aging rate vs. the role of environmental factors. The goal of the project is to develop enhanced DNA-methylation based models for the prediction of chronological and biological age estimation.
