The 4th Network Meeting of the UV4Plants Association will be held from 3-6 July in Jagiellonian University’s Auditorium Maximum, 35 Krupnicza Street.
In July 2022, we invite you to the 4th UV4Plants Network Meeting. The event will present the results of the latest research on the effects of UV radiation on plants and climate.
The event is coordinated by the staff of the WBBiB (Dr Agnieszka Katarzyna Banaś and Dr Wojciech Strzałka) and the MCB (Dr Justyna Łabuz).
Previous meetings gathered sixty to eighty participants from leading universities in Europe, North America and China, representing a wide range of specialties including plant biology and photobiology, the interaction of the atmosphere with the biosphere, ecological responses to climate change due to UV radiation. The issues presented at the conference, combined with lively scientific discussions conducted by scientists and industry representatives, will be particularly important, because of the climate warming, resulting in the need to cultivate plants in areas with strong sunlight combined with high UV radiation. UV radiation is not only a threat, but can also be beneficial. An interesting part of each of the conferences of the UV4Plants Association is the transfer of practical knowledge on the use of UV radiation to improve the condition of plants when moving them from greenhouses to field crops or increasing the production of compounds used in the food industry, such as alkaloids in the production of wine or aromatic compounds in the cultivation of herbs.
