Prestigious Biniecki Award for Dr Anna Czarna from Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University

The Scientific Committee of the ACCORD 2022 Interdisciplinary Conference on Drug Sciences has granted the prestigious Biniecki Award to Dr. Anna Czarna from the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University for her work on the application of structural biology in the search for new active substances.

During this year's ACCORD "Synergy of interdisciplinary innovations" - an interdisciplinary conference on drug science, organised by the Medical University of Warsaw on 26-28.05.2022, the Prof. Stanisław Biniecki Award for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of interdisciplinary drug research was presented. We are very pleased to announce that this year the award went to Dr Anna Czarna from the KIND Research Group of Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University for her work on the application of structural biology in the search for new active substances ex-aequo with Dr Wioletta Rut from the University of Wroclaw for her achievements in developing chemical biology tools for drug discovery.

The awards are presented every two years during the ACCORD Conference. Each of them is awarded to a young scientist from Poland and a young scientist from abroad for outstanding scientific achievements. Stanisław Biniecki was a Polish physician, pharmacist and chemist. He discovered Todralazine (introduced to medicine in 1964) and Gapikomina (introduced in 1970).
This year's edition of the conference consisted of lectures by over 20 speakers from renowned academic centres from, among others, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Canada, the United States and Poland (), opinion-forming panel discussions with the participation of eminent scientists and short oral sessions presenting the scientific achievements of young researchers, as well as an expo zone. Among the participants of the conference were representatives of the Jagiellonian University, the Medical University of Silesia, the University of Wroclaw and the Medical University of Bialystok.

The next edition of the conference is scheduled for 2024.
