Scientists produced “Armoured Enzyme” Crystals

A team of scientists at the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University, Krakow Poland and Aalto University, Finland have succeeded in placing enzymes into protective protein cages which are then assembled into crystals. The enzymes still function but are shielded from harsh environmental conditions by the cages.

An international group of researchers centres at the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University in Poland have produced a super-stable artificial protein ball that apparently defies the rules of geometry and which may have applications in materials science and medicine.
